One of my hobbies is looking for cheap airfare. I am trying to find tickets back east for the 4th of July--although as that is one of the only times anyone flies to the east coast I am not finding too many bargains. BUT-I did find some pretty cheap deals through Continental and Northwest Airlines on travelocity and on farecompare.com--which is the cheapest I have ever seen. So just in case anyone has $150 dollars to spend on a flight to the Valley of the Sun-happy searching. FYI you would probably have to stay about a week and I couldn't find any open seats in mid april when Country Thunder will be here--RUDE I know!

Pool de Mortensen opens mid->late may but the hot tub can be available now :-)

Anyone else planning a vacation --let me know-it is always worth trying to coordinate and meet somewhere and vacation together.

Bad news and good news

The Bad news is that my poor little Hyundai was totaled :-( I was rearended about two weeks ago-don't worry everyone is fine--but I have been busy arguing and negotiating with yet more insurance companies since then --so much fun let me tell you! :-)

But finally today ...here comes the good news...we got to go buy a new car! :-) At the first place we went we stumbled across this rare find--a used honda accord with only 10, 154 miles on it. I bet you will never guess what year it is...

A little about me and Sam

• my husband's name? Samuel-but he won't answer to that
• how long have you been together? married 5 years in March
• how long did you date? We dated for 8 months and were engaged for 3 months.
• how old is he? 30 in April
• who eats more? Definitely Sam-he at least finishes what is on his plate, where as I can never seem to finish any meal. However-I eat more often during the day-can't stop snacking.
• who said "i love you" first? Sam
  who is taller? Sam
  who can sing better? singing isn't really a strength for either of us. We aren't too bad if we are singing along to the radio...and it is really loud!
• who is smarter? dumb question huh? who is going to say-'I am the stupid one' or 'my husband is stupid' We both have college degrees so we are both smart-but if I have to pick one I would have to say Sam because his latest degree is about 5 times bigger than mine...and after all he is a Doctor
• who does the laundry? We both do. We do pretty good on the washing it part...not so good on the folding and putting it away part (right now I should probably stop writing this and fold the 3 loads of laundry sitting on my bed)
• who pays the bills? I do, Sam makes the money right now, and I spend it :-) Well, someone has to.
• who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Well If we are going from the foot, it's both of us--technically it is Sam's side of the bed-however I don't feel i should be confined to my side and I am usually crowding him.
• who mows the lawn? Definitely Sam, I don't know if I could even turn on the mower. I like that some chores are just meant for him :-)
• who cooks dinner? Me, when I feel like it anyway
• who drives? Sam-
• who is more stubborn? we both are-we will stand our ground--is that a good thing?
• who kissed who first? Sam kissed me first
• who asked who out first? I think maybe i asked him-I invited him out with a bunch of friends to go to a drive in movie-I am sure he will let me know if I am wrong :-)

• who has more friends? Currently...Sam :-( I am still getting to know people here and dreaming about flying to visit all of my friends back east--or wishing they could afford to come and visit me while the weather is so nice (hint hint) :-)
• who is more sensitive? Me. Sam-he just doesn't care.
• who has more siblings? Sam, by one
• who wears the pants? I too would say both-we take turns.

What I did today

So after buying four sample cans of paint--I ended up with this. It isn't exactly what I was shooting for-it was supposed to me a little lighter and more gray...but I like it--at least for this wall. I don't know if I like it enough to paint the rest of the kitchen and the living room. I am pretty impressed that I was able to paint this whole wall with a 4 oz can of paint - At least that sample didn't go to waste. :-)

For all of those painters out there who want to know the color-it is Benjamin Moore 'Santorini Blue'...(the color in the middle of the paint swatch) --but for the record it looks exactly like this picture of a wall painted with Behr 'Winter Lake'.

Super Tuesday!

I have spent the morning doing some last minute research making sure that my vote today will be an educated one. I am in fact a registered republican and so the main candidates are McCain and Romney. After reviewing their standings on all of the issues, and realizing that on the issues I find most important they are pretty similar. They differ slightly in how they plan to reach the solutions, and they both have some great ideas. In order to make my decision I decided to look back on their histories, look over their qualifications, and see if either one has any proof of following through with their good ideas. I found that while McCain was a dutiful soldier, served in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and continually lobbied for veterans and against the wasteful government spending--I was much more impressed by the list true leadership resposibilities and most importantly the proof of actual results:

Romney

• Served as Governor of Massachusetts -and turned a deficit into a surplus WITHOUT raising taxes or increasing debt
• reformed the MA education system by adding more choices for schools (charters etc) and starting a scholarship program that many students have been granted
• Proposed and signed a market-based reform that will allow all MA citizens to have health insurance without government takeover
• Helped add jobs to MA and lower the unemployment rate
• In SLC he erased a $379 million operating deficit
• Led the 2002 olympics to a success -despite being just after 9/11

Go Mitt! I will be closely watching the results of this super Tuesday--Hopefully there will be a great voter turnout.
