A great week so far...

I have had a really fun time the past few days thanks to all my friends. I was able to watch a chick flick with Kim on tuesday as we celebrated her birthday :-) That night i got to go out to dinner at Bertucci's, as it seemed like a perfectly good location for a Relief Society presidency meeting...okay-so what if none of us brought so much as a pen. Then I got to go to lunch with a bunch of friends today. We started the day off ...playing hookie.! :-) I kept Rachel home from school so that she could make one final playgroup. He insisted, begged, and eventually left the the house in a sunday dress-complete with tights and her black penny loafers (who's kid is this-really?? ) She was all decked out. After playgroup we had a fun...and memorable lunch at Baja Fresh-where we pretty much too over the entire restaurant! That's Right! Afterwards, we made time for a little bit more chatting before we finally called it a day.

I can't believe that it is almost time to say good-bye. At the same time we are having some close calls as Sam is continually facing new kinks to our plan-to vacate to the Valley of the Sun ASAP. Despite the obvious conspiracy to keep us here ...we will try our best to make it though this frustrating time. Three cheers for having NO CLUE what the future holds for you !!!! :-)

Last trip Ice skating on the Common

Here is a picture from Monday. We had to take Sam back to witness Rachel's superb skating abilities...unfortunately it took her a while to warm back up to it, but we all had a lot of fun. It was nice and sunny and not too cold...and considering our weather today--I am really glad we were able to enjoy it while it lasted.

Just thought we would post some pictures of what spring is like here in Boston...as our family and friends in Arizona are baking in 90 degree weather.

We are doing a lot of packing and our house is full of boxes. We are sad as we have started to say good-bye to some of our friends (although this weather is making it a whole lot easier to be happy about leaving.)

Future Olympic Skater

The weather was great today so Rachel and I headed off to Boston to try some skating on the frog pond. She has only been one other time (last year) and we pretty much just had to drag her around the ice the whole time. Today she was AMAZING! (hence the reference to the olympics :-)

She has been looking forward to going skating for a long time. When we first got on the ice, it was the same as last year, she was just hanging on me and not able to do practically anything on her own. We decided to try on hockey skates and they were pretty helpful. Pretty soon she was super proud of herself for being able to stand on the ice by herself, then by the end of the day we were circling the rink.

I am assuming she could have done a lot better, if only there had been a a way to keep her focused. She was very distracted by...well...EVERYTHING! :-) By a leaf stuck in the ice, by other kids skating, by all the people standing around the rink watching, by a squirrel she saw about a half a mile away running up a tree. ... She was also trying to spin around in circles, skate backwards, and "go speedy fast", which was definitely making it more difficult to get the whole going straight thing down. Her favorite thing to do was to have me skate backwards and hold her hands, and then convince me to spin her around in circles until we were dizzy. Can't wait until you can all see her skate in person :-)
