So Close!!

Well -for all of you who have been asking for an update on the house--
we signed on the dotted line today!
There are no pictures yet because we don't have the keys yet, and as much as I wanted to start snapping pictures at the final walk-through-I just couldn't bring myself to do it with the seller standing there :-) There is a chance we could have the keys tomorrow, but it may be monday. I will get some more pictures posted as soon as I can :-) Wish us luck!

Girls night

Well tonight I got to go to Time out for Women-YEA! Here are some pictures of downtown for all of you who want to know what downtown Phoenix looks like.
downtown at 8am on a Saturday morning
(is something missing?)

a big new building
a future stop on the Future Light Rail

Chase stadium (AZ Diamondbacks)

Did you figure out what was missing???? PEOPLE!! HA ha! It is so funny--as much as I want Phoenix to become this cool big city--even after they get this light rail in (their first piece of mass transit) they still have a long way to go! We tried to find a place to eat breakfast and lunch while at the convention--only to find out that all of the restaurants in the area are CLOSED ON THE WEEKENDS!!! ??? Huh? What kind of a downtown closes down on the weekends--Lame! :-) In their defense-this could be considered the financial district, and i guess it is a little less lame for the financial district to be dead on the weekend-(but that is a long shot) :-)

Go Sun DEVILS!

This is us at the Arizona State vs San Diego Football game

This is us getting a ride on one of those carts that are driven by a bicyclist (help me with the name of it) and I am trying to sneak in a picture because I am sure my husband would have rolled his eyes at me if I warned him that I wanted to take one -and would have been mortified had I asked anyone to take a picture of us together (which would have been the only way to get the cool contraption in the shot with us). Oh well-it is so wrong that I just want to prove to all of my friends that we are still cool and that we are out doing fun things? ;-)

Okay-and to be honest-here is us leaving the game...at half time. (do we lose cool points for that??-i hope not! :-) Are they always this long? Sam and I had an interesting experience at the game, as we just kept looking around at everyone-thinking "Didn't we used to have fun at these games?" and looking at all of the current ASU students and thinking they looked soooo young! ha ha lol! Did we really get married when we were that age? Which got us thinking as to why exactly everyone is in such a hurry to get married, and to have kids? Why was that all we could think about when we were in college? ( i guess we didn't stand a chance against the brainwashing in the singles wards-just joking...kinda) I would love to hear from any one who waited to get married , or maybe just waited a while to have kids--is it just blissful ? Or what are the inperfections you have in that life that is sounding so dreamy? Don't get me wrong, we are totally happy, and love Rach, but just day dreaming about dropping everything on a moments notice and heading to mexico-or enjoying date nights out during the week-things like that :-)

Here is a cool hair-do I was quite proud of--because it was kind of a fluke and it is being held together with just ONE bobby pin!! AMAZING -i know! If you squint-you may just be able to see some of my highlights :-)

Nothing like making a fort to play in with your cousins. This one was a step up from the one they had made themselves--After the power went out and they were given flashlights to play with-they were looking for a place to hide out-and I found them underneath the fitted sheet that was still on an air mattress. They had taken two pillows and put them underneath to lay on and they were giggling and shining their flashlights on the sheet (which if you are trying to visualize-is pressed up right to their faces. Who knew that could be so fun?

Gotcha Grandpa!

Here is a quote from the car ride to dinner tonight-that was too cute to keep to ourselves:

Sam: "Turn left. I said Turn Left! Gosh, who taught you how to drive?"

Grandpa: "Sorry, Gosh! I don't see anyone else offering to drive, any of you are welcome to drive anytime."

Rachel: "Ok! I'll drive!" (ha ha ha-Gotcha Grandpa! Can't forget about Miss Smarty pants :-) She is very quick on her toes lately :-)

Hula Girl :-)

For our video posting test -Rachel has a little message for all of her friends :-) (i just tried it and it isn't working on my computer-maybe the file is too big ? so let me know if you can watch it)

Public pool

We love Bowling!

Notice her excitement...and the ball hasn't even knocked any pins down yet...nor is it even close ;-)

Here are some pictures from the past couple of weeks. One is a picture of one of the city's public pools. I remembered to take this as we were leaving-and the little tykes were not in the mood to pose-but I thought it would be fun to show anyway. Not only is there a little playground with slides, and all kinds of water sprinklers in the middle of the pool, but there are no memberships-you can just pay $1.00 to go for one day--and it is is open all summer -go figure:-) --(unlike some cities --which will remain nameless-that actually close the public pools for the summer). We went bowling last saturday--after Rach had spent all week setting up bunches of any toys that would stand up and rolling balls at them and yelling "STRIKE!" I felt bad, and decided she deserved some real bowling. Always a favorite activity-fun for the adults and the children--we highly recommend it. And the picture of Sam and I is compliments of Rach-as I decided it has been a while since we have posted anything with us in it. I did get my hair cut and highlights put in last week (not that you can notice them-they are pretty subtle). But I did like the stylist and so in a couple of months I may decide to let her put more in.

*side note* Thought you might all like to know that we recently set a record here in Phoenix for 34 days straight of temperatures above 110 degrees!! So-for all of you who have plans to come visit us...you can cross the month of august off of your list :-)
